For Junior Performers
Thematic Theatre Camps
We provide a full day of fun, drama, music, puppetry, theatre games, storytelling and improvisations. Students perform a puppet show at the end of the first week and a full play at the end of the second week of each session.
This camp is also used as play production preparation for beginner, intermediate, and advanced intermediate performers.
All instruction is geared to awaken individual talents and freedom of self-expression, poise, self-awareness, memorization skills, script interpretation, stage presence and working within a group setting. Students learn the fundamentals of staging a play along with proper acting techniques.
Classes are held in the comfort of a climate controlled theatre facility during the summer months. Fee includes full instructional costs, scripts, make-up, costume rental and use of the puppets. All students will be asked to have proper attire (dark, solid-colored puppeteer shorts and shirt and/or leotard and tights) for theatre and movement. All sessions have limited enrollment.
Students may enroll in any session and may take more than one session. Instruction is progressive and tailored to meet individual student needs.
Ages: 8-13

Full Day: 9am -3pm

Dates: Session I will run from June 27th to July 8th; Session II will run from July 11th to 22nd
Session I: Comedy Camp: Many Moons:
When a princess gets sick from too many tarts, she is sure that the only thing that can make her well again is to have the moon. But when the moon sets at night, where does it go? And what is the moon anyway? What is it made of? What is the shape? Can you hold the moon? Should you hold the moon? Join us for our Comedy Camp and our full cast of characters including the Jester, The King, and all his Wise Men as we ask the absurd questions posed in James Thurber's Many Moons. Students will put on a full length play as well as explore improvisation, character development, and other comedy techniques. Camp culminates in two full length performances.
Session II: Medieval and Renaissance Camp: Hear Ye! Hear ye! The medieval world of Geoffrey Chaucer comes to life in our kid-friendly version of The Canturbury tales, including The Nun's Priest's Tale, the Wife of Bath's tale, and the tale of the noble Chanticlear the Rooster. Students will learn basic acting techniques and study the values of medieval society as the pilgrims on the road to Canterbury try to tell the best tale of all. Period costumes complete the feel of the Tabard Inn and its dusty travellers! Camp culminates in two full length performances.
